Biography of Jeff McElfresh as President at AT&T Technology & Operations
Jeff McElfresh, president, Technology & Operations, AT&T Communications, a wholly-owned subsidiary of AT&T Inc., is responsible for technology development, network deployment and operations, and AT&T’s transition to a software-defined and future 5G network.
He leads the company’s networks and technologies team, which has driven AT&T’s global leadership in the technological transition to software-defined networking – with a focus on virtualized or cloud-based network controls – as well as the company’s leadership in the move to 5G networks. Jeff oversees the company’s global information, software development, network and cybersecurity operations, and chief data office organizations, as well as AT&T’s Intellectual Property group, Labs and Foundries.
Previously, Jeff served as CEO of Vrio, a holding company for AT&T’s Latin American digital entertainment services units, DIRECTV Latin America and SKY Brasil. He managed operations for the region’s leading digital entertainment service – driving growth, innovation and a superior customer experience for more than 20 million customers in 11 major markets in Latin America and the Caribbean. Jeff has more than 23 years of domestic and international experience in a variety of strategic and operational roles at AT&T.
Prior to AT&T’s acquisition of DIRECTV, Jeff served as President of Mexico Operations for AT&T and as a member of the board of directors and executive committee of Telmex and América Móvil. Prior to his roles in Mexico, he served as Vice President of Product Development for the AT&T startup Emerging Devices Group, as Vice President and General Manager for AT&T Mobility and as the Chief of Staff to the Chief Operating Officer during the Cingular and AT&T Wireless merger integration in 2004.
Jeff holds an electrical engineering degree from the University of Florida and a master’s degree in business administration from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management.Back to previous page
